Is Your Cholesterol Healthy?

Next to Sodium, Cholesterol seems to be the one thing that people are always getting too much of. Let’s talk about what cholesterol is, why you need it, and how you can avoid getting too much of it.

There are two kinds of cholesterol: HDL (healthy) and LDL (unhealthy).

Your body creates 75% of the cholesterol that it uses and you consume 25%. Both of the cholesterols travel through the blood and if you have consumed too much LDL then it will make a paste in your veins and can cut off blood flow to your heart, brain, or anywhere else.

It is important to remember that HDL and LDL are enemies in that bad cholesterol can inhibit the functions of the good cholesterol.

To combat bad cholesterol either consume less LDL (eat lean red meats, poultry, fish, etc.) or more HDL (eat eggs, fruits, nuts, veggies, etc.) because the higher the percent of HDL the better.

We also highly suggest that you test your cholesterol levels with the Total Cholesterol Testing Kit, because it is very important to know what your cholesterol is.
