7 Tips for Better Energy and Sleep

Energy and sleep, the two things we can never seen to get enough of (except for maybe our children)! Here are four easy-to-use energy boosters to recharge your body, followed by three simple tips to get a deep, restful night’s sleep.
ENERGY

1. Stop drinking Coffee! Replace it with White Tea - Coffee gives you that energy rush, but too many cups gives you the burnt out feeling (I think we have all been there). Because white tea goes through even less processing than black or green tea, it contains the highest levels of the amino acid L-theanine to help you stay more alert.

2. Avoid Caffeine Withdrawal with Guarana - There is nothing worse than the 2 p.m. caffeine decline. Instead, try guarana, which has the same stimulatory effect as other caffeinated sources but with a much more gradual and sustained boost of energy! 3. Try Water-rich Foods to Fight Dehydration - Low energy can be the cause of dehydration, because it makes it harder to pump nutrients to through the body. By eating water-rich foods, such as pears, strawberries, zucchini, and celery, you can fight dehydration.

SLEEP

5. Place a Food Curfew - Eat dinner at least 2 hours before bedtime since a late meal will keep your body busy digesting, making it harder to fall asleep. Also, avoid highly processed or spicy foods that can lead to acid reflux.

6. Stay Cool and Wear Socks - A colder environment helps you sleep better, so turn the thermostat down (but beware of the potential energy bill) and put on socks. Why socks? Well, putting socks on tricks your body into thinking its hot, and will internally lower your core temperature to help you sleep better.

7. Try a Salt and Soda Bath - This may seem a little strange, but bathing before bed helps relax the body. The salt helps soothe the muscles and the baking soda helps soothe the skin. Place one cup of Epsom salts and one cup of baking soda in the bath when you try it!
